The vampire fish is a newly discovered fish related to the candiru, a kind of blood-sucking catfish. It is known to scientist as 'Vampyroteuthis infernalis,' which, when translated, means 'Vampire fish from hell'. It is very small and can grow up to about six inches.
The vampire fish was discovered in the Amazon river, along with three other kinds of fish, during the filming of a BBC series called "Amazon Aybss." The vampire fish was discovered at a depth of 300 feet, where the river water is pitch black.
