Kim fights out of Busan, Korea. Kim gained recognition in 2007 after knocking out DEEP welterweight champion Hidehiko Hasegawa in a non-title bout. Kim and Hasegawa later fought to a controversial draw in a title fight at DEEP 32nd Impact, leaving defending champion Hasegawa with the title. Kim decided he'd had enough of DEEP and left shortly thereafter.
Kim made his UFC debut on May 24th 2008, at UFC 84 defeating England's Jason Tan by technical knockout.
