About Daryll Clark

Daryll Lawrence Clark (born February 5, 1986, in Youngstown, Ohio) is a American football quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He was named the starting quarterback for the 2008 season over Pat Devlin by head coach Joe Paterno. He was recruited to Penn State out of Ursuline High School in Youngstown by way of The Kiski School in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. Clark received some playing time in his first two seasons at Penn State behind Anthony Morelli. Although Clark is a senior he received another year of eligibility by meeting certain course requirements that were put in place since he was designated a "partial qualifier" and could not play his freshman season.

Clark appeared in five games during the 2006 season. He completed 14 passes in 27 attempts for 116 yards and ran for 48 yards with 3 touchdowns. Clark made his college football debut against Notre Dame and scored on a five yard run near the end of the game which the Nittany Lions lost. Clark replaced an injured Anthony Morelli in the Michigan game only to be injured himself in the third quarter with a mild concussion. Most of Clark's other appearances came in games that were well in hand.

Clark received a little more playing time in 2007, again backing up Anthony Morelli. He completed 6 passes out of 9 attempts for 131 yards and ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns. His most significant amount of playing time came in the 2007 Alamo Bowl against the the Texas A&M Aggies. Penn State was behind the Aggies 14-0 in the second quarter when Joe Paterno sent him in the game in place of Morelli to provide an offensive spark. Clark responded by running for 50 yards on six carries and one touchdown. This game marked with debut of Penn State's new spread offense which will replace the more traditional pocket passing and tailback oriented offense that was in place during Morelli's years at QB.
