Bintro (short for business introduction) provides a business networking tool built using semantic agent search query technology (semantic technology). The site is a virtual information exchange and matchmaking site for individuals, businesses, employers, job seekers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs designed to increases performance and productivity. Officially launched on February 29, 2009, Bintro provides an intelligent agent to anonymously find and introduce professionals with specific needs and interests to appropriate individuals and organizations that match for jobs, services, goods or the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The site is powered by a semantic technology that enables members to automatically find the most relevant knowledge, resources and solutions. The profile process allows the site to find the most relevant opportunities for users on an ongoing basis, while allowing users to remain anonymous during the search and shopping process. Site visitors are matched with others based on the merits of their experience and skills and because an agent represents both parties, personal information is not revealed until both parties agree on the match. In Bintro’s case it is what you know and not who you know unlike the matching process used on LinkedIn.
